I went to Dallas, Tx last week for Kids Beach Club. I had an amazing time meeting with other area directors and learning from pastors, principals, and even the CiCi pizza’s Vice President of Training. I took away such a renewed passion for the clubs to be in the schools and a new boldness in going in to schools. I know that this is where God has called me at this time in my life. It is almost as if my knowledge of the possibility for us to be teaching God’s Word in an elementary public school holds me responsible to do something about it.
In all honesty this has been tough. I am not in my comfort zone going to schools and “pitching” the idea of us coming in. I feel very comfortable talking with churches and especially the churches that I have already approached because they just “get it”.
But I was reminded of a blog entry by Steven Furtick in talking about our “sweet spots”. He talks about the fact that it may not be what we are most comfortable doing but it is right where we are suppose to be. I also took away with the point that I don’t like rejection but how silly is me being told no by a school or school board compared to the rejection and suffering of Christ and a good number of Christians around the world. This is legal and some of the loops I have been jumping through have been stepping on a Supreme Court ruling. We are to be as shrewd as snakes and innocent as doves.
I desire to be intentional and bold for it is God who will open the doors and has already open the doors in the Atlanta area. We will be singing praise songs, learning Scripture, developing character, handing out Bibles and telling kids about Jesus in the public school (after the official day has ended.)
